Top performer winner

Kai Weigel, Moorhead. The junior goaltender posted his second consecutive shutout—his fifth of the season through 25 games played—on Feb. 14. Weigel made 39 saves, his second-highest saves total of the season, to back the Spuds' 3-0 victory against Roseau. Weigel's .936 season save percentage is seventh best in the state.

Top performer candidates

Eli Fletcher, Prairie Centre. The North Stars snapped a 12-game losing streak on Feb. 14 while tying their season high in goals scored. Fletcher led the 8-0 win against Redwood Valley with a season-best seven points. He scored the first two and last two goals of the game and assisted on three goals in between. Two nights later, the senior forward again tallied four goals, including one on a power play, as the North Stars defeated Breckenridge/Wahpeton 6-3.

Pierce Gouin, Duluth Marshall. On Feb. 18, the senior forward more than doubled his previous season best offensive output, totaling nine points in the Hilltoppers’ victory against Northern Edge. Gouin recorded his first hat trick of the season along with a season-high six assists. He was as effective on special teams as he was at even strength, as three of his assists were recorded on power plays and three points were shorthanded. The Hilltoppers won 15-1.

Kamden Kaiser, Northfield. As solid as the Raiders have been on defense as of late—notching seven shutouts in the past 11 games—they’ve been equally as impressive on offense. Kaiser has been a leader on the score sheet, recording points in all but one game this season. The junior forward had two five-point games last week as the Raiders defeated Austin 9-0 and Mankato West 8-1. In each game Kaiser scored three goals—including one on a power play each game—and two assists.

Aven Prodzinski, Winona. The sophomore defenseman led a come-from-behind win on Feb. 14 while recording his first multi-goal game of the season. Trailing by two goals with less than seven minutes left in the third period, the Winhawks took advantage of two five-minute major penalties by Owatonna. Prodzinski scored the first power-play goal and after a teammate followed suit and did the same, Prodzinski tallied three more power-play goals within three minutes of his first one to lead the 5-2 comeback win.
